Soungs Uncovered

This collection features the extraordianry vocal talent of Jacques Coetzee and the unusual interpetations and arrangements of Johann Kotze. Live or recorded versions speak of simplicity, sometimes starkly so, but the songs are always presented with intensity, sincerity and passion. Most of the songs are familiar, with some rarities, but it is mostly the one guitar and sometimes two voice harmonies that evoke an emotional response or spotlight on the lyric that reveals, in shadow or light, dimensions of the material in way unheard in the authors own interpretations or in the many cover versions of the more familiar songs. Both Jacques, as a poet and masters in English literature (poetry), and Johann, as musician, composer and producer, have been involved in numerous poetry events, for a number of years. See the spoken word page for some of these. A poem by Jacques, a musical setting for one by Petra Muller and Gus Ferguson each compliments the already wide range of songs uncovered.
