I formed a group able to perform light classics and well-known jazz tunes, with an easy-on-the-ear yet interesting and original slant in order to please the musical connoisseur and novice alike. These experienced and talented musicians have been put together specially for the 2007 Concert for Conservation event of its Summer Concert Series, offered by the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, now in its 4th year. The group will also improvise a few original instrumental compositions lead by the various individual members, thus contributing to the current trend of hybrid world music that combines musical cultures.
This years concert is supported by the Hangklip Kleinmond Tourism Bureau.
About the band
Terry Dean (Guitar and Vocal) is a Hermanus local that was born in England but has lived all over the world. He is a singer-songwriter adept at folk, blues, rock and jazz, has a vast repertoire of popular songs and writes his own songs. Brydon Bolton (Bass) was in the very popular and creative, trendy Cape Town group Benguella, a progressive instrumental trio that was in years a big at the top national music concerts and gatherings for creative arts and trance parties. Brydon is now playing in classical music ensembles and other projects that interest him. John Pringle (Drums and Percussion) is a classically trained percussionist and drummer adept at all styles, and also a talented producer and composer of modern music ranging from club to classical. Jan-Hendrik Harley (Viola, Guitar) is a classically trained viola player and guitarist that has played on and arranged music for recordings for many top South African stars. He also composes classical music. Charles Mosterd (Violin) is a classically trained violinist. Johann Kotze (Guitar) loves the blues- and acoustic guitar music and world music, has written and recorded music for plays, soundtracks and other productions, and is an experienced producer and organizer of events.
