Letting go From the album 'Sonvanger', afrimusik 1999
Composed by Gidon Lazerus (classical guitar) / Johann Kotze (slide guitar)
Album produced by by Johann Kotze
Recorded at Sunset Recording Studios by John Playdon, Stellenbosch, June 1999
Note: Recorded in about half an hour at the end of the legendary compilation,
with the idea to conclude
an otherwise singer-songwriter filled album with an instrumental track as antidote. I had the wind chime made in
in the key of a very pure sounding e open chord a while before the recording, and its chime seemed
to echo the very sounds of yearning for freedom, wind, sun and sea as intended by the composition.

SLOWNESS - solo and slide guitar.
MY BLUES, Blues based solo and slide guitar and some additional instrumentation recording project
Spirit help me please.mp3. Recorded on a guitar with only a bass and g-string. I was visiting a friend for a weekend and took a dusty guitar hanging on a wall and picked pick on it. I tuned the two strings into somthing harmonious and this piece came up. I recorded it in the bathroom on my Mac-laptop's internal mike. I tapped a rhythm with my nails on the tequila glass I used for the slide on a seperate track and mixed it in. This is the blues in a most primal and raw form. I also wrote a lyric with a 'Spirit help me please' theme, hence the title. March 2006.
Intro to Fishriver canyon home DVD. Made for a home movie after hiking the Fishriver Canyon, Namibia, May 2005. Recorded on my Mac-laptop's internal mike over two Garage Band loops.
Silent Night . Slide guitar interpetation of the beautiful Christmas standard. P/c demo December 2002.
Still walking . Soundtrack feel to this bluesy solo slide with beat on African drum. Used in the 'Going nowhere slowly' television travel program. Made at home on 4 recording, 1999.
Ry . 'Soundtrack' bluesy solo slide, clearly inspired by Ry Cooder. The sound that inspired me to take up playimng. Made at home on 4 track, 1999.
Rick's cafe . One of my very first instrumentals. Recorded on a tape recorder
in Amsterdam 1990.
